I am a member of the BABCP (see link below) and I am currently working towards accreditation. I am also bound by it's code of ethics and am comitted to on-going professional development.
What does a psychotherapist do...?
A psychotherapist uses cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) which is a type of talking therapy that focuses on how your thoughts, beliefs and attitudes can affect your feelings and behaviour. CBT teaches you coping skills to deal with different problems.
It combines cognitive therapy (examining the the things you think) and behaviour therapy (examining the things you do).
